California senator Kamala Harris has made it official by announcing that she is running for President of The United States in 2020. Senator Kamala Harris, who is the first African American, and third US senator since December to enter the race, timed her announcement to coincide with Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Speaking on “Good Morning America,” Harris said, “This is a moment in time where I feel a sense of responsibility to stand up and fight for the best of who we are.” Following the appearance, Harris launched her campaign website, with its slogan, “Kamala Harris For the People,” and revealed her first campaign event for January 27th in Oakland. The senator is mixed race Indian and Jamaican; with a large portion of the base of the Democratic Party being made up of Black females, Senator Harris has a strong chance of making history again.
