Jamaica’s Toni-Ann Singh was crowned Miss World 2019 on Saturday night. It is the first time all top beauty pageants have crowned black women. Miss USA, Miss Teen USA, Miss America and Miss Universe have all crowned black women. She tweeted, to the little girl in St. Thomas, Jamaica and all the girls around the world-please believe in yourself…this crown is not mine but yours. You have a PURPOSE. Miss World is a graduate of Florida State University where she majored in psychology and women studies. This makes the fourth time Jamaica has won the crown. They won in 1963, 1976 and 1993. Miss Nigeria in the green gown is the type of best friend we all could use.
