News Friday as investigators try to fully understand what caused the helicopter crash that killed Kobe Bryant, his daughter and seven others on board. According to the National Transportation Safety Board, the aircraft showed no outward evidence of engine failure. The helicopter went down in heavy fog January 26, killing everyone aboard. The NTSB is also looking at what role the weather may have played. While a final report could take at least a year, NTSB Chairman Robert L. Sumwalt said in Friday’s update that “investigators have already developed a substantial amount of evidence” and “are confident that we will be able to determine its cause as well as any factors that contributed to it so we can make safety recommendations to prevent accidents like this from occurring again.”
