Battle Erykah and Jill “vibed” on Instagram Live for their version of the Verzuz battle. It was anything BUT a battle as 600k followers witnessed the two Queens shower each other shea butter in love. Many did not know that the hit song from The Roots “You Got Me” that featured Erykah Badu on the hook was the first thing a-then-unknown Jill Scott had ever written. While Erykah played the album version of You Got Me, Jill played the live version she did in New York with The Roots. She told the story of Erykah Badu who was stuck in traffic was late for her performance with The Roots. The show had to start and Black Thought told a very scared Jill Scott she had to sing. Another memorable moment from the battle was when Jill asked Erykah what time was it and Erykah responded, I have no concept of time.
