Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick Denied Early Released From Prison

by

Reports came out last week that former Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick was going to be released early from prison. It seemed highly likely due to several high-profile Trump associates that have been granted early release. Those reports appear to have been false. A spokesman for the Federal Bureau of Prisons said officials reviewed the case and refused to release him to home confinement due to COVID-19. His expected release date from the low-security prison in Oakdale, LA is January 2037. Kwame Kilpatrick was convicted on 24 counts of public corruption including bribery, racketeering and fraud. The former Mayor of Detroit’s sentence was excessive.
