NASCAR has released the photo of the noose that was found in Bubba Wallace’s garage at Talladega. NASCAR President Steve Phelps said, in hindsight I should have used the word ‘alleged’ in our statement. As you can see from the photo the noose was real as was our concern for Bubba. Phelps said NASCAR went through all of the garages and found 11 that had a pull down rope tied in a knot and only one noose-the one in Bubba’s garage. NASCAR determined the noose was not in the garage prior to October 2019 but it was unable to determine who tied the rope in a noose and why. Bubba received a lot of backlash after the FBI made their findings public. Now that we have seen the photo, any person of color would be alarmed and even traumatized to see a noose in the workplace. NASCAR should have maybe conducted an internal investigation before notifying the media. We live in a racially charged society, I think NASCAR they did their best given the current climate in this country.
