Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms has tested positive for COVID-19. Making the announcement Monday on Twitter, the 50-year-old Bottoms said the diagnosis came as a surprise because she hasn’t been feeling ill. “COVID-19 has literally hit home,” she tweeted. “I have had NO symptoms and have tested positive.” Mayor Bottoms said she and her husband decided to get tested because he was sleeping more than usual. The 60th mayor of Atlanta has been considered in some circles as a front runner in Joe Biden’s group of potential running mates. Political betting market odds-makers recently named Bottoms the favorite to win a spot on Biden’s 2020 ticket. Hopefully this will put a face on the risks associated with COVID-19 and encourage more people to be more cautious.
