Charles Barkley Faces Backlash After Comments On Breonna Taylor Case

by

While many NBA players expressed their anger and disappointment following the grand jury ruling in the police killing of Breonna Taylor earlier this week, at least one basketball great is bucking that trend. During Thursday night’s “NBA on TNT” pregame show, Charles Barkley admitted he doesn’t feel there are similarities to other shootings involving Black people and law enforcement. “You know, we have to take into account that her boyfriend did shoot at the cops and shot a cop,” the Hall of Famer said, adding, “So like I say, even though I’m really sorry she lost her life I don’t think we can put this in the same situation as George Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery, I just don’t believe that.” Reaction on social media has not been the kindest to Barkley or his co-host Shaquille O’Neal, who also agreed with the comments.

Come on Charles?
