It’s anew day and time for a new Brand! After completing ‘Branding Review’, following in the footsteps of Uncle Ben’s (now Ben’s Original), Aunt Jemima, and Land O’ Lakes, another famous food is retooling its image. B&G Foods has announced that they will remove the Black chef from packages of Cream of Wheat after completing a months long review of their branding. The company told Fox News that while the character is based on a real person, “it reminds some consumers of earlier depictions they find offensive.” Several long-standing brands have recently pledged to change their marketing to remove insensitive imagery and names in the wake of protests over racial injustice.
