(AP Photo/Keith Srakocic) A new study suggests that alcohol could be more dangerous for the heart than previously thought. Researchers out of Dublin, Ireland found that people over 40 who consumed “moderate or high” amounts of alcohol had up to 4.5 times greater risk of poor heart health than people who did not consume any alcohol. ‘Moderate’ alcohol use is considered anywhere between 7-14 drinks per week. ‘High’ alcohol consumption is considered more than 14 drinks per week.
