The final two Minneapolis police officers charged in the death of George Floyd were sentenced in federal court on Tuesday. J. Alexander Kueng and Tou Thao were convicted of violating Floyd’s civil rights when they failed to intervene while fellow officer Derek Chauvin kneeled on his neck for over nine minutes. Kueng was sentenced to 3 years in prison and two years of supervised release. Thao was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison along with two years of supervised released. Another officer, Thomas Lane, was sentenced last week to 2.5 years in prison. Chauvin is currently serving a 22.5 year sentence for murder.
