The song portrays a woman’s internal struggle to leave, but love prevents her. The music video shows the love between two people, but one betrays the other, leading to dramatic events. Keke Palmer discussed the visual for “Waiting” with PopSugar saying, “I wanted to bring the lyrics to life through a suspenseful storyline and visually stunning moments that take the audience on a ride and inspire them to ‘boss up’ exactly where they are right now.”
