Publisher Drops Central Park Five Prosecutor Linda Fairstein

by

The prosecutor who participated in the wrongful conviction of the Central Park 5 has been dropped by her publisher. Linda Fairstein is no longer being represented by Dutton or Penguin Random House, publishers who have helped her market over 14 crime books. Fairstein’s portrayal in Ava Devaney’s “When They See Us” on Netflix had viewers outraged calling for a boycott of her publishers and distributors. Since the documentary’s release, Fairstein has resigned from two nonprofits and Vassar College.

This heartbreaking story of 5 New York teenagers is causing many American’s to take a close look at how the criminal justice system has violated the civil rights of hundreds of thousands of people of color. Linda Fairstein should be held accountable for withholding DNA evidence that would have exonerated the young teens.

Do you think the Central Park 5 should’ve received more for their wrongful convictions?
