GIRL, who woulda thunk it … our First Lady, Michelle Obama has a song out! YES, a real live song!
As you know, Mrs. Obama is active in the lives of many! Especially young girls! In an article, it says that there are 62 million girls who aren’t in school today, but should be. This fact why the Obamas launched their campaign(s), Girl Rising and Let Girls Learn. In an effort to get the word (OR THE SONG) spread about the campaign, FLOTUS hooked up with a bunch of incredibly talented women, like Missy Elliott, Janelle Monáe, Zendaya, Kelly Rowland and more to drop “This Is For My Girls,” a song about female empowerment.
“This is for my girls, all around the world / Stand up, pull your head up / Don’t take nothing from nobody,” the lyrics state. “You’re someone who can be soft as silk but strong as steel / Don’t shy away from showing what you’re made of / This world is yours to take, you can bend but you won’t break.” The rest of the song follows the empowerment theme, and near the end, Missy closes with a rap verse.
