R Kelly’s Physician Testifies He Had Herpes Since At Least 2007

by

R Kelly

R. Kelly’s doctor took the stand during Thursday’s court hearing. Kris McGrath, who specializes in internal medicine and has cared for the singer for over 20 years, testified about the singer knowingly having herpes since 2007.

McGrath testified he suspected Kelly had herpes since 2000 due to his symptoms but a negative lab test didn’t detect the virus.

McGrath testified that he had told Kelly to inform his sexual partners about his condition and he prescribed Valtrex which is used in the short term, but for outbreaks that happened more frequently, McGrath says he advises taking the medication daily.

McGrath says Kelly or his associates would call for refills of Valtrex so often he had memorized Walgreens’ phone number. McGrath also testified R. Kelly never paid for services; he would only receive concert tickets to see the singer perform.

Should R. Kelly be charged in violation of public health laws?
