Deion Sanders has had two toes amputated due to complications resulting from an injury.
The NFL Hall of Famer makes the shocking admission in Tuesday’s episode of Coach Prime, saying the amputations followed a series of issues that began last season. After undergoing surgery for a dislocated toe on his left foot in September, it — and its neighboring toe — began to darken, Sanders says. “They were talking about the amputation of toes,” the 54-year-old says. “Then they were talking about the amputation of my leg from the knee down. Then, they were trying to ensure I had life.”
After several more operations, doctors finally had to amputate Sanders’ big toe and second toe, he says. “I endured a lot while I was in the hospital during our historic season,” the NFL star says. “But I am so thankful for God being there to help pull me through.”
