R. Kelly Denied New Trial On Child Pornography Charges

by

R Kelly

R. Kelly will be sentenced as scheduled the next week after being rejected a request for a fresh trial in his Chicago child pornography case.
In September 2022, the disgraced R&B artist was found guilty on six of 13 counts, including manufacturing child pornography and luring kids into sexual conduct. He was cleared of further counts of fixing a 2008 state-court trial over the same child pornography allegations.

R. Kelly’s appeal focused on “Jane,” a 14-year-old victim who testified that the singer filmed their sexual encounters. His lawyers claimed Jane’s evidence was “not true” because she didn’t fully disclose her plans to sue Kelly if he was convicted.

Leinenweber replied, “Simply because Jane and her counsel evaluated the potential of reparation does not entail she lied throughout her testimony. Jane testified she was undecided. She testified that she wanted restitution.”
