During a court hearing in Maryland this week it was revealed that the longtime manager of hip-hop legend Biz Markie was an informant for the DEA. ‘ The Baltimore Sun reports that a 2014 search warrant of attorney Kenneth Ravenell, who’s on trial for racketeering and money laundering, revealed that Lamont Wanzer, Biz’s manager, was a “cooperator” with the agency. Looking deeper, the warrant revealed that Wanzer had been helping the DEA since 2013 and was helpful in bringing down Richard Byrd for drug trafficking. The late Biz Markie wasn’t named in the case and was not implicated in any of Wanzer’s dealings.
