by

Jaleel White

Jaleel White was introduced to the world in the 90’s on the classic sitcom Family Matters.  On an upcoming episode of TV One’s Uncensored, he talks about one particular episode that broke him.  It was when they introduced Myrtle May Urkel-a female character portrayed by Jaleel.  Reginald Vel Johnson and Jo Marie Payton who played Carl and Harriette, let it be known to Jaleel they were against him portraying the character saying he was not doing our race a service.  It got so bad that on the day of filming Jaleel’s father was on set.  Jaleel said after they filmed the episode he broke down afterwards.  He recalled his father saying, I’ve watched my son deal with this sh– all week. He shouldn’t have to carry the burden of some adults making a child feel bad for playing a girl just for fun.  What is your favorite 90’s sitcom?
