Last Day For Early Voting Tomorrow

by

There is still time to vote early and enjoy the benefits of walking in and out in a few minutes. Dallas and the surrounding cities are hosting an election on Saturday, May 9. Several seats on the Dallas City Council are up for grabs with the headline topic being a new tollway road. If opponents make inroads by electing someone who opposing it in one of the four seats in South Dallas up for grabs they could kill a project that has been approved by voters at least twice. While the city faces several more critical issues this is the one that has generated the most passion and related donor dollars and volunteer hours during this election cycle.

Earlier this week, we published an overview of the Dallas Mayoral candidates based on their responses to our election survey. In the print edition, the wrong dates were given for early voting, the online story was updated with the correct info. It ends on Tuesday, not today. However, any resident of Dallas County can vote from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at one of these locations. You can visit these locations Monday and Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

As each of us watch the events unfold across the country, unfortunately we have no idea if Dallas will be the next city to have an tragic situation that leads to unrest. As we have seen in Ferguson, New York City, Cleveland and now Baltimore it is not the president, your senator or your congressional representative that will have direct impact on the situation – it is your mayors and your city council members. Choose wisely — please participate and vote.

If you do not vote all your Facebook posts and Tweets will be temporary noise. If you want to make a difference VOTE.
