Rep. Elijah Cummings Dies At 68

One of the strongest voices in Congress for two decades has been silenced, Representative Elijah Cummings has died.

Cummings won his seat in Congress in 1996 and though the years became Chairman of the Black Caucus and Chairman of the House Oversight and Reform Committee as well as one of the fiercest opponents of President Trump’s policies on immigration.

The Congressman had been dealing with health issues and was hospitalized this week, according to his office he died from “complications concerning longstanding health challenges.”

Rep. Elijah Cummings was 68.
