Will Smith says that his father’s death helped him with his new movie role. Smith stars in “Collateral Beauty” about a man who pretty much loses it while dealing with loss.
“What was really interesting was that I got the screenplay right when my father was diagnosed,” Smith told Ellen DeGeneres on her show. “So I have this screenplay and I’m doing all of this research about a guy who experiences death at a time when my father is given six weeks.”
Smith’s father Willard Carroll Smith, Sr. passed away last month.
