Tyler Perry is preparing for the release of Boo 2! A Madea Halloween this Friday, and he says that there is a reason that the ‘Madea’ movies are so popular and necessary.
“I think their popularity stems from people’s need to laugh,” Perry said to the Chicago Sun-Times. “There is so much heaviness going on in the world today. There’s so much unhappiness and turmoil, between all the ugly politics and the seemingly unending natural disasters. People need to escape from all that and have a good time. They need to take 100 minutes out of their day and go laugh at something.”
