Congratulations to John Legend who is now one step closer to claiming EGOT status, that’s the exclusive club where artists have won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony award. Legend who already has Grammys, and Oscar, and a Tony award was nominated this week for an Emmy for his role in Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert.
“It feels good to be on the brink [of that honor],” he said to Good Morning America. “Even if it doesn’t happen this year, if we do more on TV, it could happen another time, but this is probably the best shot I’ll have for awhile. My fingers are crossed and if it happens, I’m very excited about the possibility.”
If Legend wins the Emmy, he will join the 12 member club and will also be the second African-American to win all four major awards, Whoopi Goldberg became an EGOT in 2002.
