Ft. Worth Police Officer Who Killed Atatiana Jefferson Resigns Before He Could Be Fired

by

The Ft. Worth police officer who killed Atatina Jefferson resigned this morning, hours before he was to be fired.

The officer now identified as Aaron Dean, shot and killed Jefferson during a welfare check at her home over the weekend.

“He resigned before his opportunity to be cooperative,” Ft. Worth Police Chief Ed Kraus said. “Had the officer not resigned, I would have fired him for violations for several policies, including our use of force policy, our de-escalation policy and unprofessional conduct.”

Dean has so far not been charged in Jefferson’s killing.
