Was it terrorism? 2 gunman open fire at an anti-Islam event in Garland

Two unidentified gunmen were killed by Garland police last night outside an event hosting a contest for cartoons depicting the Muslim prophet Muhammad. The event at the Curtis Culwell Center was ending when the gunman arrived and begin shooting, an unarmed Garland ISD security officer was injured in the shooting.

The investigation continued into this morning as investigators looked for possible explosives in the suspects car.

Governor Greg Abbott released a statement on the shooting:

“Texas officials are actively investigating to determine the cause and scope of the senseless attack in Garland, Texas. This is a crime that was quickly ended thanks to the swift action by Garland law enforcement. Our thoughts and prayers remain with all those affected tonight.”
