President Obama has called the shooting in the Orlando gay club that left 50 people dead and 53 injured, an act of terror.
“Today as Americans, we grieve the brutal murder, a horrific massacre of dozens of innocent people,” the President said. “We pray for their families, who are grasping for answers with broken hearts. We stand for the people of Orlando who have endured a terrible attack on their city.”
ISIS (The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) also spoke out claiming responsibility for the attack.
“The armed attack that targeted a gay nightclub in the city of Orlando in the American state of Florida which left over 100 people dead or injured was carried out by an Islamic State fighter,” the Islamic State’s Amaq news agency said in a statement to Reuters on Sunday afternoon.
The shooting has been called the worst attack on United States soil since September 11th.
