Taraji P. Henson is speaking out about being a victim of domestic violence at the hands of her boyfriend, the “Empire” actress describes the night of her attack which happened when she was in college, in her new book “Around The Way Girl.”
“The next thing I knew, Mark’s balled-up fist was coming straight for my face” she writes. “I fell onto the bed, crying and holding my mouth; blood seeped off my lips…droplets splashed across my shoes, slowly seeping into the fibers of my suede boots.”
Henson’s boyfriend who was later violently killed, was also the father of her son.
In the book, she also reveals her less than perfect upbringing in Washington, D.C., and how she was able to fight being typecast in Hollywood to become an Oscar nominated actress.
“Around The Way Girl” will be available October 11th.
