The Oscar nominations were announced yesterday and most of the world found out that Mary J. Blige was nominated by seeing it on TV, but the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul reveals that she was no where near a television when the nominations were announced, because she was asleep.
“My phone rang at about 5:30 a.m. and it was my publicist, Amanda, and she was screaming,” Blige said. “And I don’t know what it is so I’m screaming and I’m crying! It’s just a really emotional time. We’re not taking this lightly, because things like this don’t happen. And it did.”
Blige is nominated for Best Supporting Actress and Best Original Song for the Netflix movie “Mudbound.”
