An elementary school dropped their Confederate name in favor of Barack Obama. Yesterday the Richmond School Board voted 6 to 1 to rename J.E.B. Stuart Elementary School to Barack Obama Elementary School. J.E.B. Stuart was a confederate general. The lone holdout was pushing for more local names to be considered while another board member said he hopes they’re done renaming buildings and can start renovating them. Richmond, Virginia, is the former capital of the Confederate States of America. More here.
