Dorothy Cotton, civil rights pioneer and MLK colleague, has died. She died at her retirement community in Ithaca, New York, at the age of 88. Dorothy Cotton was one of the few women who held a leadership role with MLK’s Southern Christian Leadership Conference during the civil rights movement of the 1960’s. As the SCLC’s education director, she helped thousands of African-Americans register to vote and exercise their rights. Read more about Dorothy Cotton here.
