Michelangelo Di Battista/ RCA RecordsWe’ve got the skinny on Alicia Keys’ new skinny jeans campaign. The singer has officially been named Levi’s brand ambassador for their updated women’s denim line, The New York Times reports.
Alicia says she was attracted to the project because of the brand’s recent overhaul, which aims to make their jeans more comfortable and flattering to all body types. According to the Times, the new jeans have an almost yoga-worthy amount of stretch — something Alicia, who recently gave birth to her second child, appreciates.
“It’s so much better because the stretch is really comfortable,” she tells the paper. “You don’t have to lie on the bed to get them up. You know, I’m a very shapely woman, and often a lot of fashion does not seem to celebrate a shapely woman. But that courtesy should be present in everything we wear.”
She adds that she prefers the high-waisted skinny style. “My personal jeans slogan is, ‘If it ain’t tight, it ain’t right,’” she says.
The singer posted a photo from her ad campaign on Instagram Tuesday. She wears a pair of tight black Levi’s, with a black top and black leather jacket. Alicia captioned the photo, “I find that when I see women that are comfortable in their skin… whatever that is, however that is and whatever way that manifests itself… it’s beautiful! #LiveInLevis”
In addition to print ads, she’ll star in a video that will appear on TV, in movie theaters and on the web. The video will feature “28,000, ”a song from her upcoming album.
