Another 3 Million Americans Filed For Unemployment Last Week

by

Another 3 million Americans filed for unemployment last week, bringing the total up to 36.5 million in just two months. While the number of new claims has actually dropped in each of the last six weeks, unemployment claims are still at precedented levels – before 2020, we’d never seen more than 800,000 claims in a single week. The current U.S. unemployment rate is 14.7 percent, highest since the Great Depression.  And while states are beginning to end lockdowns and reopen their economies, many of the lost jobs won’t return right away.

How concerned are you about the long-term economic impact of the pandemic?
