Noam Galai/Getty ImagesPolice have issued an arrest warrant for the chief suspect in their search for whomever robbed R. Kelly‘s two homes in Atlanta last month.

Buzzfeed reports the warrant is for 50-year-old Alfonso “Doc” Walker on charges of burglary and theft.  Police say Walker used to work for Kelly doing odd jobs.

Walker was already a suspect in the case, according to ABC affiliate WSB, which reports he was scheduled to surrender to authorities Tuesday.  When he didn’t, the warrant was issued.

A woman who works for Kelly discovered in November that a home Kelly rents in Johns Creek had been cleaned out entirely — from furniture to a diamond-encrusted hoodie.  “She found that the place had literally been ransacked,” said Johns Creek Police Department Captain Chris Byers.

After the discovery, police searched another of Kelly’s homes in the area and found everything missing there, too.  “Many televisions. Furnishings.  We’re talking about couches, chairs, tables,” Byers said.

“There were all kinds of strange vehicles and people coming and going from the house all times during the night,” one neighbor told WSB.

Police say Walker became a suspect last week they returned to one of Kelly’s homes for follow-up investigation and encountered an individual who said he’d been hired by Walker to move out the furnishings and sell them because the singer was relocating to Chicago.

“They wouldn’t sell an individual item for a certain price, but say a bedroom for $6,000,” Byers said.
