Ashanti has decided on the next offering from her latest album, Braveheart, which spawned her Rick Ross-assisted lead single, “I Got It.”
In an interview with Idolator, the singer revealed that “Early in the Morning” featuring French Montana will be the next song to get the single treatment.
“I think the iTunes chart has picked my next single,” she laughs. “I got a text saying that it was the most-sold R&B single on iTunes, so… I think we’re gonna have to go with that.”
Ashanti also revealed that “Scars” is another fan favorite, a song many believe was inspired by her on-again, off-again boyfriend, Nelly. “It was very emotional when I wrote the record, it was very emotional when I sang the record and it was very emotional when I listened back,” she says. “And it’s funny because there’s so many people that relate and that’s exactly how I felt at that moment.”
Braveheart is Ashanti’s fifth studio album and her first issued on her independent label, Written Entertainment.
In other news, the singer recently tweeted that she’s landed a role in the upcoming film, Fallout Asylum. “Woaaaaa Great day of shooting!!! I even stabbed a dude in the chest! ???? lol… #FalloutAsylum #Comingsoon,” she wrote on Tuesday. The film arrives in September.
