Johnny Nunez/WireImageRising rapper Benny the Butcher is on crutches after reportedly being shot in the leg in Houston in an attempted robbery over the weekend.

Houston’s ABC 13 reports the New York rapper, born Jeremie Pennick, was approached by a group of men who demanded his chains and necklaces as Benny was getting out of his Rolls Royce at a local Walmart.

According to police, the suspects began shooting at the rapper as he was running away, striking him once in the leg. Two other individuals who were with Pennick at the time of the shooting were not injured. The suspects were seen in a Chevy Malibu, according to investigators.

Benny the Butcher seems to be doing well and recovering after sharing a video on his Instagram Story Sunday. The video shows him using crutches to board the steps of a private jet.

Benny released his latest album, Burden of Proof, last month and recently signed a management deal with Jay-Z‘s Roc Nation.

This marks the third hip-hop-related shooting in the Texas this month. Rapper Boosie Badazz was reportedly shot in the leg in Dallas on Saturday, a week after up-and-coming rapper Mo3was shot and killed in an attack in the same city.

“Yall still don’t agree with what I said. Being a rapper is one of the most dangerous jobs in the world,” wrote rapper Jim Jones on Instagram in response to news of Benny’s shooting. “Get well soon bro. Stay safe, stay dangerous.”
