BET Honors Erykah Badu Saturday at Black Girls Rock!

Image Courtesy BETErykah Badu will receive the Rock Star Award at BET’s Black Girls Rock!, being recorded Saturday at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark.

Tracee Ellis Ross from Black-ish and Regina King will host the show, which will air Sunday, April 5. Ciara, Jill Scott, Fantasia, Faith Evans, Lalah Hathaway, and Sheila E. will be among the performers.

In addition to Badu, the honorees will include Jada Pinkett Smith, who’ll receive the Star Power Award; Cicely Tyson, recipient of the Living Legend Award; and Selma director Ava DuVernay, who will receive the Shot Caller Award. 

First Lady Michele Obama will also appear to promote her “Reach Higher” education program. 

Now in its fifth year, Black Girls Rock! recognizes African-American female trailblazers in the arts, philanthropy, sports and community service.
