by

Kevin Mazur/WireImageWhen she announced her Formation World Tour back in February, Beyonce said she’d use the power of her #BeyGOOD initiative to help out residents of Flint, Michigan, who’ve been without safe drinking water for over two years.  Monday, Beyonce made good on her promise.

On the eve of tonight’s concert at Ford Field in Detroit, Beyonce’s Parkwood Entertainment handed over a check for $82,234 to the local United Way – money intended to help locals weather the water crisis, according to the Detroit News.  Flint’s about an hour northwest of Detroit.

All of the money was donated by fans who chose to make the donation when they bought tickets to Beyonce’s tour.

Beyonce’s people also chose 14 local high school students to receive donations to help with their education, as well as tickets to tonight’s show.

Tonight’s concert also wraps up the North American leg of the Formation Tour.  Beyonce heads to Europe later this month before returning stateside September 7 in East Rutherford, NJ.
