by

Columbia/Parkwood EntertainmentBeyoncé has scored her first top 10 single on Billboard‘s Adult R&B Songs chart in nearly six years, with her recharged version of Maze and Frankie Beverly‘s “Before I Let Go.”

Seven weeks after debuting on the chart, the dance-along remake has ascended from number 12 to number nine.  It’s Bey’s sixth top 10 on that particular chart, but her first since 2013’s single “Drunk In Love,” from her self-titled fifth studio album. That record would go on to win a Grammy that following year for Best R&B Performance.

Before I Let Go” is lifted from the vocal powerhouse’s most recent effort, Homecoming: The Live Album, a body of work which features live recordings from her landmark Coachella 2018 performance. The original song is a staple of HBCU culture; Bey’s version has sparked a viral dance challenge, co-signed by the star herself.

In other Beyoncé-related news, the singer is looking to add even more accolades to her impressive resume at this year’s BET Awards. She’s up for four trophies including Best Female R&B/Pop Artist and Album of the Year for her joint album with hubby JAY-ZEverything is Love.
