Beyonce is reportedly preparing to take her acting to the next level.
“She wants to land leading roles in movies and has been taking classes in New York and L.A. for the past year,” an unnamed source tells Us Weekly.
Although Bey scored a Golden Globe nominations for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy for 2006’s Dreamgirls, the diva no longer wants roles in musicals — she is said to have turned down NBC’s The Wiz Live!
“Bey’s looking for an iconic dramatic role,” adds the source. “She wants to make a film that’s socially relevant to African American rights.”
While Beyonce is “always being given scripts to read,” the singeralos is focused on the follow-up to her 2013 self-titled album. “Beyonce’s also recording a new album!” adds the pal. “She’s writing and working with a bunch of producers right now.”
