Beyonce, Ne-Yo & More Perform on Stevie Wonder’s All-Star Grammy Salute Airing Tonight

Credit: Eddie WolflTwo days after the Grammy Awards, music’s top stars gathered to tape a special paying tribute to Stevie Wonder that’ll air Monday night.  The special, Stevie Wonder: Songs in the Key of Life — An All-Star Grammy Salute, is similar to the tribute to the Beatles tribute that the Grammys did last year, with artists like Beyonce, Ne-Yo and others.

LL Cool J hosts the special, which features Usher, Janelle Monáe, John Legend and Jennifer Hudson.  Many of the numbers feature unlikely artists teaming up for duets on Stevie classics, like Beyonce and Ed Sheeran singing “Higher Ground,” Babyface and Ariana Grande singing “Signed Sealed Delivered,” and Pharrell Williams and Ryan Tedder coming together on “Don’t You Worry ‘Bout a Thing.”

Some of the presenters on the show include Tyler Perry, Craig Robinson, Jamie Foxx and former SNL star Maya Rudolph.  Rudolph’s appearance is notable because her late mother, Minnie Riperton, hit #1 on the charts in 1975 with a song Stevie Wonder produced: “Lovin’ You.”

At the end of the show’s taping, Stevie told the audience, “We must, without question, let the world know that love is king and queen. I encourage all of us as artists to write songs about love. Love is the key, and you’ve given me love, and I thank you for it.”

The special will be broadcast with video description, so that blind and visually impaired people — like Stevie himself — can enjoy it as well.
