Beyonce has been tapped to perform at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, taking place at The Forum in Inglewood, California later this month.
The network has announced the singer will also be honored with the 2014 Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, which is reserved for “exemplary musicians who have made an incredible and long-lasting impact on pop culture.”
Beyonce joins an elite list of previous Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award recipients, including Madonna, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Michael Jackson himself, who took home the coveted honor in 1988.
Beyonce leads all MTV VMA nominees with eight nods, including Video of the Year for “Drunk in Love.”
The 2014 MTV Video Music Awards ceremony airs Sunday, August 24 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.
