Beyoncé Shuts Down Sales of “Feyoncé” Mugs

by

Eric McCandless/CBSBeyoncé does not like companies playing with her name, especially if they are making money from her fame.

A seller on the Etsy online marketplace was offering “Feyoncé” mugs — as in “fiancée” — which apparently had became popular gifts for engagements, according to TMZ. In an seeming referencing to Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies,” the mug design featured the word Feyoncé with the letter  “o” stylized as an engagement ring.

According to TMZ, Queen Bey objected to the similarity in names and threatened to sue. Etsy removed the mugs, however as of Friday afternoon various sellers on the site continue to sell other products featuring the word “Feyoncé,” including sweatshirts and wines glasses.

Beyonce is preparing for the Grammys on February 8 where she’s up for awards in six categories including Album of the Year. But it’s possible that her lawyers may be preparing other threatening letters in response to those other Feyoncé items.
