“Beyoncé is a go,” notes the insider of the film, which will also mark Cooper’s directorial debut.

The 34-year-old “Crazy in Love” singer has been taking acting lessons and looking for “an iconic dramatic role,” according to the newspaper. She was reportedly interested in the A Star Is Born remake when it was to be helmed by Cooper’s American Sniper director Clint Eastwood, who then dropped out.

This will be the film’s fourth incarnation. It originated in 1937, was remade in 1954 with Judy Garland and James Mason, and again in 1976 with Kris Kristofferson and Barbra Streisand.

Shooting is set to begin in late 2016 or possibly 2017.
