Big Sean celebrates his third #1 album, ‘Detroit 2’

by

Mark CarsonBig Sean logs his third consecutive #1 album on Billboard’s 200 Albums chart with Detroit 2.

The rapper spent the weekend celebrating his fifth studio album, which caused him to open up about the “emotions and lessons” he’s learned while climbing the ladder of success.

“Thank you! I sacrificed my privacy; I put so many emotions and lessons I learned the hard way into this music and gave an honest glimpse into my heart!” Sean wrote on Instagram on Sunday. “It wasn’t easy; nights I thought of offing myself cause life was too heavy, but the lock-in was worth it!”

He found solace in remembering that he’s “still here and so many aren’t; it’s for [a] reason.”

“My goal was to inspire you to turn yourself up in all ways, mind, body, [and] soul,” Sean continued. “Life isn’t promised as we can see, so have fun, and thank you so much for the #1 album for [the] third time in a row! Let’s keep going. Why would I stop?!”

In another post, he posed while popping open a bottle of champagne while standing on top of an SUV that overlooked a giant billboard of his album, writing, “Cheers to Detroit 2!!!”

Less than two weeks ago, Sean dropped his fifth studio album, featuring the late Nipsey Hussle, Stevie WonderErykah Badu, Young Thug, Ty Dolla Sign, Eminem, and many more, including a few fellow Detroit rappers on “Friday Night Cypher.”

Detroit 2 also marks Sean’s fifth consecutive #1 debut on Billboard’s Rap chart and his fourth consecutive #1 debut on their R&B/hip-hop chart.
