Texas rappers Bobby Sessions and Megan Thee Stallion linked up on “I’m a King,” the lead single from the Coming 2 America soundtrack, which is out now.

“It’s a dope opportunity to be a part of something so iconic,” said Sessions during an interview on Instagram live with journalist Makho Ndlovu Thursday. “Obviously the first one was a classic within the culture so being a part of the sequel is a tremendous honor and we feel fortunate to be a part of it.”

The 24-year-old recalled getting a call from his team about Megan wanting to be featured on “I’m a King,” after hearing it herself.

“It was perfect. She completed the kingdom,” he continued. “You can’t have a kingdom with just a king, so she made the ‘I’m a queen’ [lyric]. Now we got both perspectives. We got the queen and the king and I think that took the song up to another level.”

He hopes fans “understand the power of positive affirmations” within the song’s lyrics. “‘I’m a king I’m a queen.’ You’re getting yourself to normalize that you are royalty…born to be royalty,” says Bobby. “And that you can level up in anything that you are doing.”

Bobby and Megan worked together on the “Savage” remix, Megan’s Grammy-nominated single featuring Beyoncé.

As for new solo music, “The Gospel” rapper says fans can expect his official debut album “in the months to come,” comparing it to Dr. Dre‘s 1992 debut, The Chronic.

“It’s the best material I ever made,” added Bobby. “I did a whole album in 10 days and I would describe it was The Chronic of self-help.”
