They were married December 28, 2017.  It’s McKnight’s second marriage, and he says he’s finally found happiness, telling the Chicago Sun Times, “I don’t want to do anything without her.”

“It’s an old cliché, but they say that you could have the whole world, but if you have no one to share it with, you have nothing, and that’s truly how I feel.” he says.

McKnight was previously married from 1990-2003, and has two sons by his former wife.  However, he now feels that, for the first time, he knows what true love is.

“There was a time when I was writing and I was singing about what I thought was love, and now I have empirical evidence that what I’m writing about is now real,” McKnight says. “At this age, I feel like I’m experiencing a whole new beginning. I used to just have a career. Now, I have a life.”

The veteran singer turned 49 Tuesday, and as he looks back, he says he’s grateful that he’s still touring and making music.

“Twenty-five years ago, I never would have thought that I would be sitting here looking back at the career I have had,” he says. “I can’t believe I have come this far.”
