Cardi B doubles down on getting into politics, sets sights on Congress

Raymond Hall/GC ImagesA day after surprising fans with news about her political aspirations, rapper Cardi B clarified her comments on Monday on Twitter.

The Invasion of Privacy artist originally received mixed reviews from fans regarding her political aspirations, to which she admitted Sunday she will “have to explain a lot.”

A day later, Cardi is back to talking politics and has set her sights on Congress.  “I do feel like if I go back to school and focus up I can be part of Congress,” the 27-year-old tweeted on Monday.  “I deada** have sooo much ideas that make sense.  I just need a couple of years of school and I can shake the table.”

Again, the statement drew mixed reviews from both fans and critics.  While fans heartily encouraged her to jump into politics, naysayers pointed out that should Cardi go back to school, she will need to focus on her grammar.

Cardi B’s interest in politics isn’t exactly sudden. The rapper has repeatedly called out President Donald Trump and other politicians on various social issues.  Also, in August, the “Bodak Yellow” rapper interviewed Senator Bernie Sanders where they mutually discussed the biggest challenges Americans face, such as health care and the minimum wage.

The rapper also teamed up with the Vermont senator for a voting education video, where the two encouraged young Americans to register to vote and to become invested in politics by learning everything they can about the political candidates.
