Over the span of Mariah Carey‘s expansive career, she’s worked with an impressive list of rap acts, and now Cardi B is gunning to be the next.
During a recent sit-down with Extra, Cardi addressed rumors of a collab with Mariah. But the “Money” rapper revealed that despite her admiration for the highly-decorated superstar, they have yet to hit the studio together.
“It’s not in the works,” the 26-year-old told Calloway. “It would be nice if it could be in the works.”
Cardi added, “I’ve just been so busy that I haven’t had time to do my own songs.”
In between being a new mom and Grammy-nominated lyricist, we can’t really blame Cardi for not having enough time to reach out to other artists to set up studio time.
Rumors of a Cardi and Mariah union first surfaced during an episode of Watch What Happens Live, in which Carey expressed interest in creating a hip-hop remix of her new song “A No No.”
If the collab does happen, Cardi will join a who’s who of rappers that Mariah has worked with over the years. That list includes Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Busta Rhymes, JAY-Z, Ludacris, Missy Elliott, Da Brat, Snoop Dogg, Gucci Mane, Jadakiss, Nicki Minaj, Nas and many more.
