Chance the Rapper to perform a livestream concert to support small business amid COVID-19

ABC/Randy HolmesChance the Rapper will perform an exclusive concert at home for Verizon’s weekly Pay It Forward Live series.

The intimate concert happens tonight, May 14, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.  Afterward, it’ll be available on demand. for one week.

The Chicago rapper is the latest headliner for Verizon’s weekly streaming entertainment series in support of small businesses affected by COVID-19. The exclusive concert series kicked off in March with performances by Alicia KeysJanelle Monáe and more.

Pay It Forward Live encourages viewers to do what they can to support local businesses in their own communities by shopping online, buying a gift card to be used when businesses reopen, or ordering a meal.

Verizon will donate $10 to support small businesses every time the hashtag #PayItForwardLIVE is used, up to $2.5 million. 

In other news, Chance’s nonprofit Social Works Chi launched the Open Mike Live initiative to make sure high schoolers still find joy in art while practicing social distancing.  In support of Chicago public schools, the nonprofit organization also raises money for social issues such as education, mental health and homelessness, and brings visibility to Chicago’s artistic youth.
